The Story Behind the Work
Karola has always known she was a storyteller. What took longer to understand was that acting, writing, and filmmaking were all part of the same creative conversation.
Raised between Frankfurt and New York City, she grew up bilingual and was drawn to artistic expression very early on. Before pursuing a career in film and television, she trained in ballet and martial arts. While earning a Master of Arts in Media Sociology and Social Psychology from Frankfurt University, she studied theater and began booking television roles, balancing academic studies with her growing career as a performer.
After moving to Los Angeles, Karola began appearing in national television commercials and films. Her film, The Cuddler, a romantic comedy that she wrote, produced and starred in, premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Cinequest International Film Festival and screened at festivals throughout the United States and Europe, including a highlight screening at the Cannes Film Festival. The film received multiple awards, secured distribution, and was released on Amazon Prime. The experience marked a turning point in her career and deepened her commitment to creating original work across multiple disciplines.
Karola is currently in pre-production for her psychological thriller Chrysalis and also in development for several projects as a writer, producer, and actress. Her work is centered on bold female-driven stories that explore transformation, resilience, and the complexities and depth of the human experience.
